Thursday, 5/19, the Eiffel Tower

You have to get your tickets weeks in advance or you don't get in. And we forgot to do that.

That's not the end of the story.

We signed up for a privately run tour, that provides tickets. But we accidentally got on the train going the wrong direction, and missed it.

That's not the end of the story either.

It turned out that the Eiffel Tower had to be closed all morning and early afternoon (probably for security), so our tour was rescheduled for 2:30! So we went!!!

The Eiffel Tower is a fabulous structure with a wonderful story. The thing is, if you Google it, you'll have it all, along with great photos. So I'm not going to rehash it here. Instead I'll post some unusual photos. Approaching, you see it through the trees.
I forget how many rivets they used, but it was a lot!
In old Paris, there's only one tall building, and you get a good view of it from the Eiffel Tower. The press and cognoscenti call it "the Awful Tower."
Here's some texture at the base.
Here's Rebecca with the Eiffel Tower coming out of her head. Which picture do,you like better? Vote for number one
or number two
Here's Bloss doing some funny stuff in a park adjacent to Notre Dame.
When she was done working out, she walked through the fence!
Tomorrow, Rebecca and I visit Roland Garros!

  1. I vote number one! The pole adds a nice balance to the picture and there are fewer people in the background to act as a distraction.
